Between 1954 and 1966, in a desert area of Fuerteventura, there was a Francoist concentration camp known by the euphemistic name of Colonia Agrícola Penitenciaria de Tefía, one of many places where the regime sent those condemned by the law as vagrants and thugs who, from 1954, it was implemented to also include homosexuals.
