Thomas Letellier, owner of a large cannery in the North, is murdered in his factory. Captain Louise Poquelin, a pure-bred northerner and overflowing single mother, is in charge of the investigation with her new boyfriend, Captain Étienne de Beaumont, a cop with aristocratic origins back in his native region.
